Our trip up North

We decided we needed to travel up north before we left Michigan for Utah. We had a great time and the kids loved it. We left in the middle of a snow storm and so it took several hours longer than planned but eventually we made it to Boyne resort. We only ran over one deer on the way!! Yes we couldn't leave Michigan without hit a deer somehow. It was great at Boyne. They have an indoor waterpark that we went to. It was practically empty because it was the week after Thanksgiving and the huge snow storm. There were only about 4 families in the entire park. The kids thought it was a hoot to sleep in a motel too. It was their first time. The next day we drove up to Mackinaw and drove across the bridge to the U.P. or the Upper Peninsula. It was beautiful and it was great to see Lake Huron and Lake Michigan.

Machinaw Bridge at night. It is the longest suspension bridge.
We didn't make it the 3 more hours to Escanaba but if you haven't watched the movie 'Escanaba in the Moonlight' with Jeff Daniels you should...

Bridge in the daylight.

Gateway to the UP

At a cafe to taste our first Pasties. I describe tham as a larger and more gormet hot pocket. They were actually very yummy.
Abby and Daddy
The Pastie. I like beef better than turkey just an FYI
if you ever want to try one.
The Lake have tons of ice in them. This is Lake Michigan .
The ride home don't we all look comfortable???
Poor Mark is driving.

The waterpark. They both loved this one and it went fast!!! We were so excited that they let JAck go on all the slides even though he wasn't quite tall enough.
Swimsuits with snow behind them. So 'normal' right???
They do love each other, most of the time.
Jack is lovin' it!!!!
Abby too!!!
They both loved crossing this iceburg path. They also had a lazy river, 7 or 8 waterslides, pools hot tubs for kids, a kid area and it goes on. The kids had a ball and I am still surpised they could fit that all inside a building that was kept at 84 degrees and nice and warm water. It was heaven.

Eating a quick snack.
They loved those beds!!!
They also thought is was great they got to sleep together in the same bed. They had so much fun!!!!
Out of order but here is us starting out on the journey!!!!

A picture of inside the park.

What a fun trip! I'll always regret not making it up north while we were in MI. That waterpark looks awesome!
